“Excellent stay at the Victorian Inn”
My husband was in town on business, and I tagged along to see the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the Victorian Inn. It has restaurant/bar/lounge area on first floor and 3 suites on the second floor. It is a beautiful old Victorian building! We stayed in the Turret Suite and thoroughly enjoyed it. This room has the Jacuzzi tub in the room, beautiful four-poster king bed, a good sized bathroom and separate sitting room with fireplace – but not a real one, and I’m not even sure how to use it. It was unseasonably warm this March so we didn’t even need it. The room has a door out to the balcony, which this room is at the end of the long balcony that goes from the back of the house past all the rooms. It’s an alternative to getting to your room if you don’t go through the main house. But was private and quiet as we were at the end of line so to speak. The bed was wonderful, all furnishings and decor stunning and fitting for the period. Very Very clean. They don’t come in to your room unless you ask, which I liked. I just asked for clean towels everyday at breakfast. Breakfast is served downstairs, and at the time Aris was the chef. He and his wife Jessica tended to the Inn, as Woodruff has other properties. They have since left to pursue another venture at the end of March, but were very happy to have them taking care of us. Aris made us breakfast the three mornings we were there, something different and exotic every meal. Some of the best scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had, and I am happy he shared is seasoning secret with us! He was very personable and took great care of us. I can’t comment on what the restaurant will be like now as there is new personnel in there as of April 1. A wonderful inn in a fantastic location right on Main Street. And while other write about the trains and sirens, I chalk it all up to atmosphere. There is a volunteer fire department close by and the siren does go off occasionally to summon personnel. There are also train tracks very close by, and very long freight trains that go thru, but again, just atmosphere to me so I didn’t mind. Would chose this again for accommodations in Luray!
